On Friday, May 15, 2020, the United States Department of Agriculture announced it is extending the following waivers nationwide through August 31, 2020:
1. Non-Congregate Feeding: The USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) is allowing meals to be served to children outside of the normally-required group setting to support social distancing.
2. Parent Pickup: FNS is allowing parents and/or guardians to pick up meals and bring them home to their children.

3. Meal Times: FNS is waiving requirements that meals be served at certain standard times to allow for grab-n-go options. This also allows for multiple days-worth of meals to be provided at once.

PLEASE NOTE, HOWEVER, THAT

a.  Pennsylvania still needs the state specific area eligibility waiver for sites that don’t normally qualify; and

b.  There has been no announcement on the extension of WIC waivers, which expire on May 31.

Many thanks to the USDA and to everyone working so hard to ensure sustainable access to three healthy meals a day for all Lancastrians!
